To answer questions...sorry, this is taking me so long just to update my own info...
@Marie...I believe I asked about the the reason for the 6 weeks, and I don't recall what the answer was, if any. If we were doing medicated cycles, we would do intralipids before transfer. And possibly add prednisone, although he says that is nasty stuff to be on, and since I am natural, it is not ideal to take it every month just in case, you know? The intralipids are $200 a pop, so the wait is probably to ensure a bit more growth and an early benchmark of viabiliy (to a degree)? I'm not sure. I'm toying with adding the odd extra 100mg in there...I get packs of 30, which last more than one cycle, so I have about 8 spares, per cycle, I think, that I could play with. I hope they're for reals too, as I feel like they are a little more pronounced this cycle than usual, but I do often get pregnancy symptoms in the LP, so they are really not useful to go on, and I wafffle back and forth as to whether I think I am or not.
@Peony...yes, in the US, they like to see between 10-15 for unmedicated cycles (higher in medicated). SO I am just barely above the threshold. I think this is the highest I have seen it, including the pregnancies in which I was able to test it. As for my herbs, I am very fortunate to have a school here that has alternative medicine courses, and part of the course line up is time in observations and consultations. The newer students sit in on observations which are instructor led. The instructor leads and the students watch, and are able to ask questions. When the client is away, they all discuss the case and what thoughts on treatment they have. I've done this a few times, because one of the instructors focuses on fertility.Though I didn't like her too much, for a couple of reasons. But the main obstacle was timing. The other option is one on one consultations with an advanced student, who checks with the clinic instructor before confirming any treatment or changes. At the start of term, the instructor tries to pair the student best matched to a case. This is what I like best, but the problem is that the students end up graduating, and you get reassigned after a while (depending where they are in their studies). The school has Western herbs, Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, Holistic Nutrition, and Doula training. Here is the school's website. I live about 25 minutes walk from it. The Western Herb clinics are free, but the herbs are not. Acu is $25 and I am not sure about the rest...
As for my chart, thanks. it is not that different from a lot, sadly. The pro is that I ovulated on CD13, when often it is CD16 or later. The overall temps are marginally higher than usual. On progesterone, by default temp is usually 36.74, and this cycle it is .03 higher at 36.77 (which matches exactly with this article I read about TCM yin/yang diets for fertility...it says 36.22 average is optimal in the follicular phase for proper estrogen levels, and an average of 36.77 for progesterone production). So, who knows. I have had a number of pretty charts with nothing. Zip. ZIlch. Nada. Nothing. But tomorrow is 14DPO, so I will be testing to see if I stop the progesterone or not. I have wanted to test earlier, even though I am not generally an early tester, but I only have one cheapie test at the moment and have been unable to obtain more, so I decided to wait, because if I tested early, I would still have to test to determine whether or not I keep taking the progesterone or stop and wait for AF.
@MrsD...I am taking 100mg twice a day, vaginally, starting at 3-4DPO (I sometimes wait the extra day, in the event of ambiguous ovulation. and then testing on 14DPO to determine if I stay on after a BFP or stop to let AF come. It is expensive for me too. If I could afford it, I'd get 3 months at a time, so I only have one dispensing fee, instead of three. The Prometrium runs me about $66 for a box of 30, whereas the generic is $6-ish dollars less, I think. I'm not sure what you mean about pronounced rises? Do you mean ovulation shift? Or after? Ovulation shifts are often weak rises, in my opinion. My LP temps are usually in the 36.50-36.64 range unsupplemented, and 36.74-36.85 with progesterone. I only get above 37 if I have a fever or am pregnant, though I can be pregnant without it being over 37 or triphasic (I have had a few legit triphasic pregnancy charts...the progesterone makes it look triphasic when it isn't). If that helps you with the shift question.
@AlaskanWife...what a sweet story. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, too. Melatonin is a weird one, because Google is your frenemy on it. Many say it is bad for fertililty, but I have seen people report that it is only really high doses that negatively impact fertility, and that normal doses are actually good for egg health. It is a hormone, so naturally, it will affect everything. Some people say that is prevents ovulation, because of the estrogen thing, which is why it is best used in medicated cycles, bu I have know people on it daily with no issues ovulating. I will see if I can find some good info on it and post to the main board.
@Mel...I am testing in the morning! I am super nervous. I have been to Crazytown and back, and I keep waffling about whether I think I am or not. Nevertheless, I have talked to my potential baby and encouraged it to hang around for a while. And to know that it is loved so much.
@JustTrying... I don't feel like my chart is all that special right now...it is only a little bit higher than normal, and I have been burned by many pretty charts before. So, ...? I really don't know...but I will tomorrow.
@laluna...lol! It is seriously one of the worst TWWs I have been through. More symptom spotting, more thinking, more evaluating/analyzing and then countering my thoughts and trying to be rational. I have also been so bad with eating...I have had mad cravings for just about everything I am not supposed to have and I have not been holding back either. Pizza? Chocolate? Way more chocolate than I usually go for...seriously. Fast food. Doughnuts, cookies, muffins. I even asked my husband to bring home pork rinds. I have eaten healthy-ish here and there (lunch the last few days is a new salad from the grocery store...chick peas with coconut mango curry dressing....holy hell, YES! and a samosa or bbq chicken leg)
FOR ALL YOU CHART STALKERS...I WILL BE TESTING TOMORROW MORNING (SATURDAY APRIL 8). I TEMP AT 7:45AM PST AND WILL LIKELY BE TESTING ABOUT THE SAME TIME SINCE I HAVE TO GET UP TO PEE ANYWAY. UNLESS I NATURALLY WAKE UP A LITTLE EARLIER. OBVIOUSLY, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE OUTCOME WILL BE...MY PRETTY CHARTS WITH GOOD TIMING ARE OFTEN DISAPPOINTING, SO SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR A DISAPPOINTING OUTCOME, IF THERE IS ONE.
